Food
Food safety is a key issue for the society. Traders and consumers share a strong focus on the subject - and it is expected that the food producers can document production conditions and traceability.
As part of strengthening food safety, a number of certification schemes have been developed that address all parts of the food chain and provide producers, retailers etc. the opportunity to document that they have established systems with a focus on food safety. Virtually all schemes are based on HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points); i.e. analysis to identify risks and control points that can eliminate or minimize the most significant risks to an acceptable level.
The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration carries out inspections of food companies, cf. the Executive Order on Food Control. It is stated that the agency can carry out fewer controls if the company has a quality system that is certified by an accredited certification body.
DANAK accredits for certification according to a number of schemes as well as for management systems in the area.

Within the EU, labeling schemes have been established for certain foods, which are recognized as, for example, national specialties and which should therefore be protected from competition from similar products. Danablu, Danbo, Esrom and Havarti cheese are examples of Danish products for which the names are recognized/protected. The schemes are based on the requirements for product certification. DANAK accredits certification bodies to ISO/IEC 17065 + the requirements for the individual products.
