ABOUT SCHEMES

DANAK accredits companies, including laboratories, so that they can offer accredited products or services in a number of areas, eg calibration, certification or inspection. Read about accreditation areas here.

The schemes can be established on the basis of regulatory requirements, for example on the basis of a directive or an executive order. The schemes can also be based on an ISO standard or be set as voluntary schemes in the individual industries.

A product or service must be recognized by DANAK before an accreditation can be applied for. See the list of schemes where DANAK accreditations can currently be found: list of schemes (in Danish) and list of methods.

Changes to recognized schemes has to go through evaluation, and the new versions must be recognized before accreditation to them can be granted. Amongst others, it is important that clear transition requirements are set. And that timeframes and deadlines allow for implementation by all involved parties.

EU-legislation – where accreditation is part of the requirements

Accreditation can be part of EU requirements in a number of areas. The national authorities may, for example, have the option of allowing part of the authority's control to be based on accreditation. The collaboration in EA, European co-operation for Accreditation ensures that accreditation takes place on equal terms in the member states.

Recognized schemes are included in DANAK's list of schemes.

Upcoming schemes, see list issued by EA, European co-operation for Accreditation.
